Freedom Road Pilgrimages guide your group on a multi-day journey through various histories of colonization and domination, theological exploration of the concept of shalom, and the spiritual formation necessary to navigate this direct engagement within The Narrative Gap, as coined by Lisa Sharon Harper.
History is usually taught by the conqueror. The narratives of the oppressed are barely known, and the brutality of their historic and present-day oppression are rarely appreciated. As a result, a wide gulf exists between the stories we tell ourselves about ourselves, including how we got here and what we believe is required to make a better world.
Freedom Road will design a pilgrimage that guides your group through the stories of the oppressed from the roots of their oppression; its social, theological, and cultural justifications; its historic and current-day impacts; and its present-day social and political outcomes.
