Thirty-four top Christian women leaders and influencers will embark on an historic journey this weekend. They will walk the land where the intersectional struggle for women’s equality in the United States took root, grew, bloomed, and scattered seeds to the rest of the world!
These women are African American, Latina, Asian American, Euro American and Native American. They are leaders. They are influencers. Their potential social media reach, through their personal platforms and the platforms of their organizations, tops more ten million people.
And they are evangelical.
These women come from a faith tradition that saw women lead the nation to repentance in the 19th century, and then turn to hard patriarchy in the 20th century. They hail from an arm of the church that helped lead the fight against slavery in the 1800s, but since the fall of Reconstruction, has feasted on the dry bones of isolation, apathy and, at worst, direct subjugation of women and men of color.
But from this space these women emerge. They board a bus to learn, to walk lands marked by sin, subjugation and salvation, to listen to the stories of our foremothers … and to each other. They come to be healed. They come to be transformed. And maybe, just maybe, they come to bring healing and transformation to the church.
This journey would not be possible without the generous support of individual donors, as well as our organizational sponsors and partners.
Thank you.
